About the Item

A charming and unusual pair of Swedish wall-mounted mirror sconces executed in pewter, dating from the 1930s. Each piece features a narrow rectangular mirror surmounted by a decorative griffin finial and fitted with a single candle holder below. The combination of stylized mythological creatures, aged mirror glass, and elegant pewter surfaces gives these sconces a distinctive Scandinavian interpretation of Art Deco and Neoclassical design. The original mirror plates have developed beautiful age-related foxing and patination, enhancing their authentic antique character. Ideal for use in an entryway, bedroom, powder room, or flanking a fireplace. A highly decorative and increasingly difficult-to-find pair of Swedish mirror sconces
