Joseph Ellwood is a British artist and designer working under the studio name: Six Dots Design. Joseph has been named one of 10 'Future Icons' in design by Wallpaper* magazine, collaborated with the luxury brand Rimowa and has exhibited globally.. The aesthetic of the work aims to challenge and disrupt the mid-century norms of furniture today. I have taken inspiration from the likes of Perriand and Prouvé and distorted their pieces to create a body of work that relates to our current generation. The lives we live today are fluid in gender, identity, expression and thought. This collection represents this confusion, indecision and anxiety in a whimsical and endearing way. This work aims to question what it means to reflect your identity though the objects surrounding you. The Dream/Reality bedside cabinet is a playful and practical piece, perfect next to a bed in a small space or as a standalone cabinet beside a sofa or armchair. It is designed to feel characterful and bring a sense of warmth and whimsy to your interior. In Six Dot’s signature raw aluminium, the piece blends seamlessly into any colour palette. At every stage of the design, there is a commitment to revealing the hand of the maker. Each grind mark, scratch and scuff tells the story of the tools and hands that created it. We can make this piece to any size or shape you require. Please get in touch for a custom quotation. Each piece is handmade in our East London workshop and marked for authenticity. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for production.
