Maarten has always had an affinity for birds and years ago he came across the illustrations by John James Audubon and John Gould which have been inspiration ever since. Inspiration which he has tweaked, morphed and abstracted into a collection of ultra-detailed rugs. Maarten De Ceulaer was born in Belgium in 1983. He first studied Interior Design at the Sint-Lukas Hogeschool in Brussels. Attracted by conceptual and narrative design, he continued his studies at the Design Academy Eindhoven. A strong passion for travelling inspired his graduation project ‘A Pile of Suitcases’, which was immediately picked up by Nina Yashar...
