About the Item

A rare antique tribal felt horse saddle cover, possibly woven by an Uzbek. In central Asian culture, the horse has always represented power as well as an efficient ally in many aspects of tribal life. Accordingly, the various horse accoutrements are skillfully woven with the best materials available. Here the border is being constructed in the appliqué technique, elegantly framing an ivory open field. An authentic work of tribal art.
