This 19th-century oversized Chinese Peking rug features a near-square format and a serene open-field design reminiscent of early Ningxia carpets from the 18th and early 19th centuries. The rug's unusually beautiful wheat-colored field is adorned with soft Tiffany blue, sky-blue, and navy motifs, creating a refined and tranquil palette.
The open field is subtly decorated with auspicious Chinese symbols representing fortune, prosperity, and longevity, thoughtfully arranged to bring balance and spiritual richness to the design. A flowing sky-blue meandering vine border gently frames the composition, adding elegance and movement without overpowering the minimalism of the field.
