About the Item

Handwoven in wool, this 9x12 rug design is an exciting new addition to Rug & Kilim’s Scandinavian rug collection—a contemporary reimagining of Swedish minimalism and Moroccan textiles. On the Design: This textural rug is from our Morocco series of this line, representing a unique play of the Moroccan diamond pattern and Swedish Minimalism with an exemplary blend of natural yarns complementing the beige hues with an impressionistic, bouclé-like look. This subtle intricacy both brings out the movement and pays homage to traditional weaving techniques alike. A soothing, monochromatic beige palette underscores a lattice of large-scale diamond geometric patterns inspired by the Berber lozenge motifs, which further enjoy a contemporary high-low execution; our proprietary "Nu" texture—with an added sense of depth, dimension, and micro-shadows. Our flatweave’s more durable, weighted body is also a hallmark of the collection, made for high-traffic and heavy-furniture spaces to resist buckling. This, alongside several elements detailed here, represent R&K Principal Jahanshah Nazmiyal’s hope to honor this mid-century modern aesthetic. His Scandinavian Collection is a contribution to that style, and a renaissance for its designs with more comfortable, current techniques. The accompanying book, L’Invention du chic. Thérèse Bonney et le Paris moderne by Lisa Schlanker Kolossek, is part of Volumes by Rug & Kilim. The book (SKU - B328) can be acquired independently through our bookstore.
