Hand-knotted in wool and silk, this 8x10 rug design is a bold addition to the Block Print line of Rug & Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection—a sophisticated and elegant new approach to a historic style. On the Design: These pictures represent a recently sold 8x10 block print rug featuring a chartreuse green field with noticeable striae underscoring an all over repeat of floral patterns in cream tones. Though this form represents a more minimalist approach, admirers of the craft and keen eyes will note inspiration from the many provenances known for repeating floral patterns in dense, deftly woven designs as this—a thoughtful and elegant new take on a traditional look. The luxurious wool-and-silk blend further creates a more elegant play of the light. The block printing process is one of the oldest in textile design and has seen many adaptations. To wit, our designs draw on time-honored, even archaic designs, such as 17th-century Mogul rug patterns that allow admirers of the craft to recreate old-world charm within any space.
