Hand-knotted in a special blend of Ghazni wool, this 4x5 rug is a new addition to the Burano Collection by Rug & Kilim. This piece is profoundly inspired by antique tribal prayer mats of Caucasian provenance, offering a richly detailed textile that captures the powerful geometry and distinct iconography of the region. On the Design: This rug is a masterful textile tribute to the geometry of prayer and the rich palette of Caucasian provenance. It features the iconic mihrab arch, which opens to frame a field of astonishing visual density. The entire field glows with a warm, pervasive mustard gold, acting as the canvas for an all-over, rhythmic scattering of geometric paisley motifs. These stylized, geometric forms, rendered in brick red, sky blue, and cream, are reminiscent of tribal talismans, lending the rug a formal yet intensely tribal character. Above the field, the arch itself is detailed with geometric patterning.
