About the Item

21922 Vintage Beni MGuild Moroccan Rug, 06'09 x 15'08. The Emerald Covenant: A Vintage Beni M'Guild Moroccan Masterpiece of Lineage. This hand knotted wool vintage Beni M'Guild Moroccan rug is a remarkable expression of the artistic heritage preserved within the Middle Atlas Mountains. Created by Amazigh weavers for the comfort and protection of the household, these striking masterworks served as treasured family possessions passed through generations. Today, surviving examples with such a richly symbolic composition are prized by connoisseurs for their cultural depth and unmistakable presence. The luminous emerald field is organized through an intricate diamond lattice whose interconnected structure reflects the bonds of tribal life. Each lozenge joins seamlessly to the next, creating a continuous web that symbolizes unity, shared responsibility, and an unbroken lineage. Much like a family itself, the lattice shelters these iconic motifs contained within its framework, embodying the role of the home as a sanctuary for those it protects. Nested diamonds dominate the exceptional composition and carry profound meaning within Amazigh tradition. Associated with femininity, fertility, and the life-giving power of the womb, these repeating forms celebrate continuity and the enduring strength of generations. Their layered construction was also believed to create protective barriers against harmful forces and the evil eye. Throughout the field, crosses, X-motifs, and ancestral figures reinforce themes of vigilance, spiritual defense, and communal harmony, while opposing triangles evoke the sacred balance between masculine and feminine energies in this extraordinary masterpiece. Floating among the lattice are magnificent eight-pointed stars, known as the Khatim, symbols of cosmic order and divine guidance. Tribal lore regarded these celestial emblems as spiritual nets capable of capturing wandering negativity before it reached the household. Together with the surrounding geometric language, they transform this stunning Beni M'Guild creation into far more than a furnishing. It is an heirloom of distinction, offering collectors the privilege of acquiring a work where symbolism, prestige, and ancestral memory exist in perfect accord. Abrash. Hand knotted wool.
