About the Item

Large hand-knotted soft wool rug after a painting by Joan Miró, suggesting Surrealist figures and geometric abstract forms in bright colors on a mustard background. The rug is made by skilled weavers in the 1970-80's, location unknown, product number; 45667, with fringe on two sides. Condition : Good with slight fading and traces of use. The rug is professionally cleaned. Joan Miro (1893–1983) , the Spanish painter was a renowned Catalan-Spanish painter, sculptor, and ceramicist recognized as a leader of 20th-century Surrealism. His work was included in major exhibitions of Cubism and Abstract Art and Fantastic Art, Dada, Surrealism. His iconic style merged abstract, fantasy figures and forms with symbolic, poetic imagery, often featuring bright colors and cosmic, bird-like shapes.
