About the Item

The Womb Chair is the first result of the collaboration between Eero Saarinen, Charles Eames, and Florence Knoll. Designed in 1940 at Florence Knoll's request, she famously asked for "a chair that was like a basket full of pillows." The model was introduced into production in 1948 and became one of the first armchairs to be mass-produced, embodying a radically modern vision for its time. This example is a second edition, upholstered in black mottled wool fabric. Ottoman: H: 15 in - W: 25.2 in - D: 19.7 in Manufacturer: Knoll International, circa 1970.
