About the Item

A superb high-back Mid-Century Modern lounge armchair designed by Hartmut Lohmeyer and produced in Germany by Wilkhahn. A contemporary of works by Finn Juhl, Grete Jalk and Hans J. Wegner. Elegant, restrained and beautifully proportioned, the chairs embody the refined German interpretation of Scandinavian Modern design. Each chair features a finely sculpted teak frame with slender, tapering legs and gracefully shaped open arms, the timber having acquired a rich, darkened patina with age. The silhouette gives the pair an inviting, relaxed presence, while the crisp architectural lines retain a quiet formality and sophistication. The seat and back are upholstered in a chic textured tweed fabric, evocative of classic Chanel tailoring, providing a handsome contrast to the warm teak frame. The result is an armchair that feel both relaxed and highly elegant — equally suited to a modern interior, collector’s residence, or refined design setting. Designed by Hartmut Lohmeyer, whose work for Wilkhahn is prized for its harmonious proportions, craftsmanship and understated modernity. Sold as an individual item.
