About the Item

Very rare set of armchairs by Maison Dominque - We've always been fascinated by Art Deco artists like Jean-Michel Frank and Paul Dupré Lafon. Their interior designs, their use of materials such as stingray leather and parchment, and their refined style have always captivated us. We truly resonate with their concept of contradictions, such as ‘luxe pauvre’. More recently, another Art Deco duo caught our attention: André Domin and Marcel Genevrière from Maison Dominique. A while back, we acquired a pair of beautiful armchairs, Les sièges confortables à double spring (circa 1930). We instantly fell in love with the armchairs, Maison Dominique, and their captivating story. Although the condition of the armchairs was poor upon purchase, they've stood the test of time for almost a century. The attention to detail and craftsmanship evident in these chairs is simply breathtaking. Spirals everywhere. They're present in the seating, the back, and even in the armrests. Let me reiterate: spirals in the armrests. Such craftsmanship is rare in the year 2024. Additionally, the back of the chair was filled with pony hair, typical for luxurious productions. All the spirals in the seating, back, and armrests have been restored. A lot of patience and delicate hands worked hard to ensure the comfort of the early ‘30s. Covered in soft grège satin velvet, Les sièges confortables à double spring are ready for their new sanctuary of rest. Provenance: Private residence in Paris, France Reference: Currently there is only one other set available for purchase worldwide in a 60.000 price range. Overall dimensions: Height: 90 cm Width: 75 cm Length: 84 cm
