About the Item

This elegant pair of antique French armchairs was crafted circa 1880 and exemplifies the refined neoclassical vocabulary of the Louis XVI style. Constructed of solid beech wood, the frames feature straight, fluted legs, square-section arm supports, and crisp rectilinear lines; the gently shaped backs are framed by molded rails with subtle carved detailing. The frames retain a beautifully timeworn painted finish with layered patina, softened edges, and areas of wear that reveal the character of the underlying wood. This aged surface enhances the crisp carving and provides the authentic antique texture collectors seek. Both chairs have been professionally reupholstered in a neutral fabric, offering clean contrast against the painted frames.
