About the Item

Introducing an incredibly rare Model 171 Armchair designed by the renowned Danish designer Arne Hovmand-Olsen for Jutex and then distributed by Design International in the mid 1950s. In stunning 100% original, vintage condition this icon of the 1950s is ideal for collectors searching for an early, untouched Hovmand-Olsen chair that's ready for a lifetime more of use. Constructed from solid premium Burmese teak, the Model 171 boasts a durable and high-quality construction that has withstood the test of time. The original leatherette seat and backrest provide comfort and style, while the sculpted concave backrest offers a unique and modern touch replete with intricate cuts where both wood and upholstery meet. Arne Hovmand-Olsen is known for his exceptional contributions to Danish Modern furniture design. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and went on to design furniture for several leading Danish furniture manufacturers, including Mogens Kold, Farstrup, and Heltborg. His designs are highly sought-after for their simplicity, functionality, and timeless elegance. Produced in limited numbers due the difficult construction process, this Model 171 Armchair is a true masterpiece of Danish Modern design, and is sure to be a statement piece in any home. Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a piece of design history. Make it yours today before it's truly gone tomorrow. ---Dimensions--- Width: 28 in / 71.12 cm Depth: 21 in / 53.34 cm Height: 28 in / 71.12 cm Seat Height: 18 in / 45.72 cm Arm Height: 24.5 in / 62.23 cm This incredibly rare armchair is in stunning 100% original, vintage condition and has aged to perfection! The solid Burmese teak frame and legs show only minor surface scratches and light nicks (the worst of which can be seen in the detail photos provided) but shows no gouges, stains or other damage whatsoever and the teak woodgrains are absolutely mesmerizing in natural light. The original vinyl upholstery shows only one small tear on the backrest (shown in the detail photos provided) as well as minor areas of color fading (best viewed in the natural light video provided) as well small pressure dings. However the upholstery, hand-nailed 75+ years ago, is in overall very good original shape. This ultra-rare Model 171 Chair is incredibly rare, structurally solid and ready for a literal lifetime more of use. Please view all photos and natural light video for details on this chair's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
