About the Item

An elegant armchair designed by Viggo Boesen and produced by Hos Wulff, Denmark, during the 1930s. One of the leading figures of the Danish Funkis movement, Boesen became renowned for introducing a softer, more organic expression to Scandinavian Modern design. His furniture is celebrated for its sculptural silhouettes, inviting proportions, and exceptional craftsmanship, making his early works among the most sought-after examples of Danish design today. This armchair beautifully illustrates Boesen’s signature approach. The elegantly sculpted wooden armrests, flowing in a continuous line from the backrest to the front legs, are among the chair’s most distinctive features. Combined with the generously proportioned seat and softly shaped backrest, they create a design that feels both refined and remarkably inviting. Newly upholstered in natural sheepskin, the chair gains a rich tactile presence that beautifully complements the warm patina of the wooden frame. The combination of sculptural woodwork and textured upholstery creates a timeless piece equally suited to contemporary and classic interiors. Excellent vintage condition. Newly upholstered in natural sheepskin. The wooden armrests have been carefully refinished to present beautifully while preserving the character of the original design. The frame retains a warm patina consistent with age and careful use.
