Pair 18th Century Portuguese Colonial Carved Palisander Side Chairs Rococo LA CA. Good Period Pair Circa 1700’s Portuguese Colonial carved palisander wood side chairs. Portuguese furnishings of the 18th century are bold, quirky, intensive and unlike those of any other country. They have their own national flavor. The pieces often boast elaborately turned legs and energetic carving, pierced decorations and unpredictable combinations of the other styles. in 18th century colonial Latin America by way of Portugal, the influence of which lasted from the 1690’s through to the development of neoclassicism in the 1780s.
