About the Item

A refined and highly collectible Neoclassical Revival side chair designed by Alberto Orlandi for Atelier Orlandi, Pisa, Italy, circa 1980. Hand-forged in iron with brass accents, the chair features a stylized wheat-sheaf motif to the splat, creating a striking contrast against the silver-toned iron frame while reinforcing the neoclassical inspiration of the design. The subtly brushed and patinated iron surface retains visible tool marks characteristic of traditional forging techniques, underscoring the artisanal nature of the piece. The seat has been reupholstered in sienna-red velvet, complementing the warmth of the brass details and lending the chair a rich decorative presence. Elegant and sculptural, the design successfully combines historical reference, fine craftsmanship, and timeless sophistication, making it particularly well suited for curated interiors and collectors of late 20th-century Italian design. The reverse bears the original engraved “Orlandi – Italy” signature mark, indicative of authentic Atelier Orlandi production.
