About the Item

A rare set of seven Baba dining chairs designed by Assostudio for Pozzi & Verga in the 1980s. Characterized by their playful geometric forms and sculptural proportions, the Baba chairs perfectly capture the postmodern spirit of Italian design during the decade. The combination of rounded tubular frames and woven rush seats creates an appealing contrast between industrial simplicity and traditional craftsmanship. The chairs feature white lacquered wooden frames paired with handwoven rush seats and backrests. Their compact proportions and distinctive silhouette make them suitable for both dining and accent seating applications. The woven surfaces add warmth and texture while maintaining the clean architectural appearance of the design. This set remains in original vintage condition with visible signs of use. Several chairs show losses and wear to the white painted finish, particularly around the legs and corners, as shown in the photographs. The woven rush remains structurally sound and presents a beautiful natural patina developed over time. A highly decorative and increasingly collectible set from one of Italy’s most expressive design periods. Condition Good vintage condition with age-related wear. Several areas of paint loss, scratches, scuffs, and signs of use to the white lacquered frames. Rush seats and backrests show minor wear and natural patina consistent with age.
