About the Item

Elegant set of eight Italian Mid-Century dining chairs by Paolo Buffa, produced in Italy during the 1950s. The chairs display the refined decorative language associated with high-end Milanese cabinetmaking of the period: slender tapered legs, a light and elongated silhouette, curved open top rails, and shaped backrests with a distinctive sinuous upper profile. The contrast between the dark lacquered wooden frame and the warm veneered rear back panels gives the chairs a strong architectural presence while preserving an elegant visual lightness. The rear view is particularly refined, with beautifully polished wooden back panels framed by the black lacquered structure. The open upper section creates a sophisticated rhythm, making the chairs attractive from every angle and especially suitable for a dining room where the backs remain visible. The set has been completely restored. The wooden frames have been carefully refinished and newly lacquered, enhancing the sculptural lines of the design while preserving the original character of the chairs. The seats and backrests have been entirely reupholstered in a new pine green velvet, a rich and contemporary color that harmonizes beautifully with the dark lacquer and warm wood tones. Decorative nailhead trim follows the profile of the seat and backrest, emphasizing the elegant curves and adding a refined traditional detail. A sophisticated and highly decorative set, ideal for a Mid-Century dining room, contemporary interior, or collectible Italian design setting. Condition Fully restored. Wood professionally refinished and lacquered. Seats and backrests newly upholstered in pine green velvet. Excellent condition, ready for use. Sold as a set of eight.
