About the Item

Magnificent Postmodern pair of Martin/Brattrud “Think Fast Lounge” or club chairs comprised of purple & green Maharam mohair fabric, maple front legs & black plastic back wheels designed by Mark Marcinek. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, there are some worn spots on the arm fronts, backs, & back corners that have been repaired &/or disguised and the fabric overall has some small signs of use & wear but nothing large. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Designed in 1995. Production in 12/2000. When something THIS cool comes along… You better THINK FAST… Literally!!! LOL… This is an INCREDIBLE pair of famed furniture maker Martin/Brattrud’s Think Fast Lounge Chairs designed by brilliant architect Mark Marcinek. The extraordinary design made its debut in 1995 at The Pacific Design Center in Hollywood, California and was an instant best-seller for Martin/Brattrud remaining for five consecutive years… and its easy to see why!!! They are AWESOME!!! The tags are attached under the seats and state that this pair was made expressly for John A. Marshall, Co. – a Miller/Knoll Certified Dealer. They bear a gorgeous geometrical or abstract frame and they are wearing a MARVELOUS purple and green Maharam mohair fabric. It is Bold, Bright, and BEAUTIFUL!!! They have unique half-moon shaped maple front feet and handsome (Not to mention, convenient) black plastic back wheels! When you want to use them in another room simply lift the front and roll with ease!!! Easy Peezy!!! Which is a benefit because they will be wonderful in ANY room whether in your family room with an accent table in between, across from the sofa in the living room, in each corner of your bedroom, in the study, den, or sitting room. They carry an ICONIC Reputation, possess euphoric comfort, and they’re SCREAMING with glorious Postmodern style & design. This is EXACTLY the pair of lounge or club chairs you’ve been looking for!! Martin/Brattrud was founded in 1946 by Frank Martin and Robert “Bob” Brattrud. They began as a modest frame shop in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. The company grew quickly and by 1950 they became recognized as one of the region’s most reputable manufacturers of upholstered furniture. Some of the most iconic designers and architects relied on Martin Brattrud to produce their work including John Lautner, Arthur Elrod, Greta Magnusson Grossman, Steve Chase, and Milo Baughman to name a few. From 1955-1958 they designed Jackie Cooper & Pat Breslin’s furniture on the set of “The People’s Choice,” Robert Brattud retired in 1977 and Allan G. Stratford purchased and became president of Martin Brattrud. The company moved to a larger facility in Gardena in 1982 and they began creating more diverse furnishings for corporate offices, restaurants, hotels, & sports & entertainment facilities. In 1995 the “Think Fast Lounge Chair” was introduced making its debut at The Pacific Design Center and within 5 months became a best-seller and remained their best-selling chair for five years. In 1999 Martin/Brattrud upholstered seating for Nickelodeon Corporate Headquarters and in 2007 they created a custom banquette seating for the Player’s Lounge, Champagne Bar, and the VIP Terrace located in the Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium. They are in business today and lead the company with unique designs, have earned a well-respected reputation, and retain partnerships with some of the most accomplished designers in the industry.
