About the Item

An elegant and finely crafted set of four 18th-century Italian Neoclassical dining chairs in solid walnut, boasting a spectacular honey-gold patina and rich wood grain. Originating from the same private, historic villa in Tuscany as the previously listed oval center table, this set has been preserved together by a single noble family for generations. The chairs feature a sophisticated openwork, pierced backrest design (schienale traforato) that combines airy elegance with exceptional structural stability. Design & Details Every chair displays the mastery of late 1700s Italian cabinetmaking. The top rail flows into subtly tapered, fluted stiles that frame an intricately hand-carved, geometric openwork splat. The rich, warm tones of the solid walnut wood are perfectly showcased across the clean lines of the frames. The trapezoidal seats rest on sturdy legs interconnected by robust H-shaped stretchers, ensuring durability for everyday contemporary use. Upholstery Note: The chairs are currently upholstered in an elegant sage-green linen fabric with a texturized shantung effect. While the inner padding, webbing, and stuffing remain in flawless, firm, and pristine structural condition, the top fabric shows minor historic staining. This offers an ideal canvas for high-end clients or interior designers, who can easily reupholster the outer layer to match their color scheme without incurring the expensive costs of structural rebuilding. The Tuscan Villa Collection Provenance This set of four chairs forms part of an extraordinary single-owner collection acquired from a historic Tuscan villa, where the furnishings remained within the same family for generations. Preserved in their original architectural setting and never before offered on the market, the chairs benefit from an exceptional provenance and remarkable continuity of ownership. Of particular interest, the chairs were originally used together with an oval Biedermeier breakfast table from the same collection, creating a refined ensemble within the villa’s private apartments. The table is also available separately, offering the rare opportunity to recreate an authentic historical interior preserved intact until recent times. Condition Report Excellent antique condition. The wood structures are incredibly solid, stable, and completely original with no loose joints. The fabric shows minor stains consistent with gentle historic use, while the underlying seat padding is in perfect shape. Dimensions: Height: 90 cm Width: 50 cm Depth: 43 cm Seat Height: 46 cm
