About the Item

A fabulous set of eight Regency Period, Scottish, George III mahogany dining chairs, Circa 1820 in date. The set comprising six side chairs and a pair of armchairs all with curved bar backs and spiral turned stretchers, raised on channel moulded sabre legs.  The seats have been upholstered in a sumptuous azure and cream damask. These chairs have been masterfully crafted in beautiful solid flame mahogany throughout and the finish and attention to detail on display are truly breathtaking. Transform the fine dining experience in your home with this set of elegant antique dining chairs. Provenance: Property from the Estate of Virginia Fortune Ryan Ogilvy, Dowager Countess of Airlie (Former Lady in Waiting to Queen Elizabeth II). THE BOTANICAL NAME FOR THE MAHOGANY THAT THIS ITEM IS MADE OF IS SWIETENIA MACROPHYLLA AND THIS TYPE OF MAHOGANY IS NOT SUBJECT TO CITES REGULATION AND DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY RESTRICTED MATERIALS. Condition: In excellent condition having only been beautifully cleaned and waxed workshops, please see photos for confirmation. Matching his words to his work, Sheraton designed much mahogany furniture. The qualities that impressed Sheraton are particularly evident in a distinctive pattern of wood called "flame mahogany." The flame figure in the wood is revealed by slicing through the face of the branch at the point where it joins another element of the tree. Our reference: A5253
