About the Item

A set of six walnut and black leather dining chairs designed by Silvio Coppola for Bernini, Italy, 1960s. Coppola was an architect and designer who worked closely with Bernini throughout the decade, bringing a structural rigor to his furniture that is evident here. The solid walnut frame shifts in profile as it moves through the chair, tapering and widening in a way that gives the design more presence than a typical modernist dining chair. The backrest is a single horizontal leather panel that terminates in cylindrical wood finials at the top of each rear leg. Seats are upholstered in black leather over foam padding and are removable for reupholstery. Original Bernini manufacturer's label present beneath each seat. Walnut retains its original warm finish. Set of six walnut dining chairs in good vintage condition throughout.
