About the Item

An Italian armchair from the 1950s, in the manner of Gio Ponti, where line and proportion are softened through material and curve. The frame is low, shaped with a continuous, sweeping gesture that defines both arm and back. There is a lightness to its silhouette, an ease that allows the chair to sit comfortably within a room without dominating it, while still holding a clear point of view. Reupholstered in a seafoam green bouclé blend, the surface introduces texture and depth. The fabric catches light gently, giving the chairs a quiet tactility that contrasts with the precision of their underlying structure. The color, soft and atmospheric, lends a sense of calm while subtly recalling mid-century Italian palettes. Set on slender brass legs, the chairs lift slightly from the floor, creating a sense of suspension. The metal adds a note of clarity, refined, warm, and understated, balancing the softness above with a more defined base. Placed as a pair or apart, the chair shapes a room through conversation, between material and line, softness and structure. Pieces that invite use, while quietly articulating mid-century Italian design. Sold and priced individually. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. This chair has been professionally reupholstered by our in-house team of restorationists in a seafoam green textured bouclé, with new foam, Dacron, and webbing. The brass legs retain a rich patina.
