About the Item

This sculptural lounge chair is stamped "Design Szedleczky" to the top of the chair, and was produced in solid pine, likely during the 1970s. The frame is built from thick pine boards, jointed with visible dowel pegs, with a tall rounded backrest slit down the centre and paired with a cutout ring motif to each arm. Two split front legs and a single wide rear leg give the chair a distinctive, sled-like stance. The seat and upper backrest are fitted with fur cushions in a mottled grey-brown tone, offering the only upholstered surfaces on an otherwise exposed wood construction. The pine has taken on a warm, even patina throughout. A strongly sculptural design with a low, grounded silhouette.
