About the Item

Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1969 and produced by Getama in Denmark, the GE-375 is one of the designer's most innovative seating systems. Created as a truly modular collection, it allows individual seating elements to be rearranged as living spaces evolve, reflecting Wegner's belief that furniture should adapt to everyday life without compromising craftsmanship or comfort. Constructed in solid oak, each module features the characteristic slatted backrest, sculptural paddle armrests, and generous loose cushions with headrests. The broad oak arms are more than a visual signature—they also function as practical side surfaces for books, drinks, or everyday objects. The natural oak frame provides warmth and durability while maintaining the light architectural character for which Wegner is celebrated. This set includes three seating modules and two original paddle arms. It is currently configured as a two-seat sofa and a separate lounge chair, but can easily be reconfigured into a three-seat sofa by relocating the arms to the outer ends. The modules may also be used individually, offering exceptional flexibility for changing interiors. The upholstery presents well overall, while the oak frames remain solid and beautifully preserved. The modular hardware functions as intended, allowing the system to be reconfigured with ease. An exceptional example of Danish modular design, where comfort, flexibility, and craftsmanship come together in one of Hans J. Wegner's most thoughtful seating systems.
