Pair of Rosewood Armchairs by Celina Decorações, Brazilian Mid Century, 1960s

By Celina Decoracoes

Located in New York, NY

This gorgeous pair of lounge chairs made of Brazilian Rosewood was produced in the 1960s by the company Celina Decorações, which signed one of the most modern lines of Brazilian furniture at the period. The armchairs have rectangular loose cushions that fit the structure perfectly, recently reupholstered in a Boucle fabric by the experienced craftsmen in our team following archival references. Based in Rio de Janeiro, the Celina Decorações factory imposed high-quality standards, maintaining handcrafted characteristics. The company was created in 1951 when Munis Zilberberg takes over the family business - a small upholstery workshop that worked on refurbishing sofa beds and antique furniture. The name is a tribute to her mother, Celina Zilberberg...

Excellent Three-Piece Salon Suite in Empire Taste with Two Side Chairs

Excellent Three-Piece Salon Suite in Empire Taste with Two Side Chairs

Located in Shippensburg, PA

A most exquisite salon suite comprised of two side chairs with a matched settee, this trio exhibits most crisp and handsomely cast gilt bronze mounts. The frame is simply molded and angular. Repeating laurel leaves furl outward from a rosette central to the apron, this flanked in all three pieces by masks of mercury in the knees over turned legs capped in stamped sabots. The settee has bold open arms with curled handholds mounted with sharp acanthus mounts raised over beautiful carved dolphin figures. It is an incredibly sturdy and strong construction with unusually thick mahogany woods tenoned into the corners of the legs, the generous material negating the need for stretchers or corner blocks while still remaining tight and perfect in the joints. We may have a matching pair of open arm chairs...
