About the Item

A striking and rare pair of Danish lounge chairs dating from the 1940s, embodying the sculptural elegance and exceptional craftsmanship of the period. The chairs feature a distinctive wingback-inspired silhouette with sweeping sides that wrap around the sitter, creating an inviting and intimate seating experience. Beautifully upholstered in their original green patinated leather, the chairs display deep button tufting across the backs and seats, lending a rich sense of texture and depth. Decorative brass stud detailing traces the flowing contours of the frame, accentuating the organic shape while highlighting the meticulous attention to detail characteristic of Scandinavian cabinetmakers of the era. The generously proportioned seats are supported by short, curved stained beech legs, giving the chairs a grounded, architectural presence while maintaining visual lightness. Over time, the leather has developed a wonderfully aged patina, with creasing and wear that enhance the character and authenticity of the pieces. Comfortable, sculptural and highly decorative, these chairs represent a refined interpretation of the traditional club chair, balancing classic upholstery techniques with the restrained sophistication of early Danish modern design. Good vintage condition with age-related wear. The leather exhibits an attractive patina, creasing and surface wear consistent with age and use. Minor wear to the studwork and timber legs. Structurally sound and ready for use. Seat height 39cm Please contact us for an accurate shipping quote.
