Introducing a rare and iconic "Cloud" sofa designed by the influential Adrian Pearsall. Audacious in it's scope, shape and materials used this sofa is a true American masterpiece. With features like the original dark green and black crushed velvet upholstery and a solid banding of American black walnut replete with exceptional, old-growth woodgrains this sofa breathtaking from all angles. Save for a few minor repairs on the plywood base this cloud sofa is in original, vintage condition making it ideal for collectors and designers alike. Born in 1925 Adrian Pearsall began designing and building furniture in 1952 with his company named 'Craft Associates' which started first in his home shop and grew to a company with more than 650 craftsmen and employees. Pearsall’s work not only helped define Mid-Century Modern but also the idea that function does not have to be sacrificed for beauty. With most furniture before the mid-century being highly ornate and lacking in utilitarian use, his work was a much welcomed change. Clean lines, organic shapes, and black American walnut wood are just a few elements often found in Pearsall’s furniture and all are on display with this magnificent brutalist sofa. This now iconic sofa is absolutely arresting from all sides and is sure to make a BOLD statement in any space it inhabits. Ideal for both office and home spaces alike this expansive sofa can blend seamlessly against a myriad of design backdrops from Mid-Century Modern to Minimalism to Brutalism. Keep the original, retro fabric or have us re-upholster it in a fabric of your choosing. Either way, make it yours today before it's gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 124 in / 314.96 cm Depth: 72 in / 182.88 cm Height: 31 in / 78.74 cm Save for a few minor repairs on the plywood base this iconic "Cloud" sofa is in original, vintage condition and aged to perfection! The original crushed velvet polyester does show some signs of vintage wear such as minor areas of discoloration and small, dotted stains which can be seen clearly in the detail photos provided. There are also minor areas of subtle fraying which are also shown in the detail photos provided, but there are tears, odors or large stains present whatsoever. As purists we strive to retain our pieces in as original condition as possible, however we do offer in-house upholstery services. The solid walnut banding shows only minor nicks and light scratches but shows no gouges, discoloration or other signs of wear whatsoever. The plywood base has been repaired in a few areas with matching, touch-up paint applied. This exquisite, American-made "Cloud" sofa is incredibly comfortable, structurally sound and ready for decades more of use.
