About the Item

I have for sale the striking silhouette that is the Saratoga sofa, or the 'case' or 'cube' sofa, designed by Massimo & Lella Vignelli, for Poltronova, in the early 1960s. All can be seen here is original. The form is minimalistic and effortlessly cool - wooden with an acrylic lacquer or enamel, the base seems to float above the floor. The white cushions have an almost invisible 'dogtooth' repeat pattern, and each is in almost-new condition, which is remarkable considering all fabric is original. This is a piece that is collectible, desirable, and, luckily, comfortable. The enamelled sofa base does have marks and scratches, as seen photographed (please note repaired cracks, scratches, minor fading and some corner chips); it is a fragile piece, but polishes up well and with the almost-perfect cushions one is almost none the wiser. After all, this is a collector's item that has been around for more than 60 years.
