About the Item

Saturn (Saturno) sofa by Gaston Rinaldi for Rima, Italy, 1957, recently reupholstered in luxurious Maharam Divina Melange Blue. Scalamandre Tigre pillows in main photo are for display purposes only and are NOT included with sofa. Rima was established in 1916 by Rinaldi’s father and based in Padova, Italy, the northern Italian city known for Giotto’s ‘proto-renaissance’ masterwork- the Scrovegni Chapel (1303–05). Rinaldi won the 1954 Compasso d’Oro for his DU30 chair (also for Rima). Rinaldi left Rima in 1974 to found his own company “Thema,” where he became known for his spare, postmodernist chair designs such as the “Dafne,” “Desy,” “Flynn,” among others. Dimensions: 76 3/8" W x 32 3/4" D x 27 5/8" H.
