This avantgarde bamboo and ratan stool was designed by Janine Abraham & Dirk-Jan Rol for Maison Rougier in France in the 1960s This hand crafted object is in very good condition and includes the original cushion which can be easily removed, allowing for the stool to become the base for a side table. (You could easily add a glass top). Janine Abraham (who is considered by many as one of France's first female designers) and Dirk-Jan Rol are known for their iconic designs like their revolutionary rattan armchairs which is featured in the collection of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. This remarkable stool like other works by this outstanding design team was inspired as much by traditional Japanese architecture as much as by American Mid-Century Modern designs. Dimensions: Height 42 cm (16.5 in) Diameter 60 cm (23.6 in) Packed with extra care for safe shipping!
