About the Item

This is a low stool, made in Burkina Faso sometime in the early 20th century. It was carved from a single piece of African hardwood, and has a beautiful, weathered patina. It features three legs, a wonderfully utilitarian design choice to navigate the variegated landscape of Africa. It displays the original tool marks from the makers, and has a pleasingly sculptural, natural appearance leading to asymmetry in the piece. It’s hand crafted quality adds to the l natural appeal of the piece, and objects that have natural forms like this help introduce a subtle juxtaposition to your more modern or contemporary furnishings, and if placed right, can bring a pleasing harmony and balance to your space! Perfect as an accent stool, something to incorporate a level of soul into your interior.
