About the Item

Playful Ulisse folding stool designed by Ivan Loss for Sandrigarden, Italy, 1981. This sculptural stool is a quintessential example of postmodern Italian design from the early 1980s, combining functionality with a bold, graphic expression. Constructed in painted metal with a molded plastic seat, the design features a distinctive folding mechanism that allows the stool to collapse into a compact form while maintaining strong visual presence when open. The bright red lacquered metal frame contrasts beautifully with the light-colored seat, resulting in a piece that works equally well as a functional stool or as a decorative object in a contemporary or eclectic interior. A true collectible from the period, representative of the experimental and optimistic design language of early 1980s Italy. An excellent addition for collectors of Italian postmodern design or for interiors seeking a singular accent piece.
