An English 19th-century japanned bookcase cabinet, decorated with gilt chinoiserie scenes on a black lacquered ground. The tall, narrow form features an upper glazed bookcase section with two doors, divided glass panels, and a warm yellow-painted interior fitted with display shelves. Below, a two-door cupboard provides enclosed storage, with each lower door decorated in gilt with chinoiserie figures, architecture, trees, and landscape motifs. The cabinet has a strong decorative presence despite its relatively narrow footprint.
