Mimas is a bookshelf that, just like the planets, features a cold outer surface provided by raw metal layers polished to perfection to obtain multi- faceted rich finishes that cover the rounded joints in squred poplar wood sections. Mimas is part of “Cosmos” a more minimal collection, which comes from a fragmented combination of shapes produced in oxidized and brushed metals. Cibic’s journey continues with a new experience where dreamers can reach the cosmos. A collection that just like the planets, features a cold outer surface given by raw metal layers polished to perfection to obtain multi-faceted rich finishes. Matteo Cibic’s projects are characterized by an unconventional and transmedial approach, which explores matter and form through unexpected functions and techniques. Mimas was part of Metallica, an exhibition curated by Matteo Cibic that explores metal and its intrinsic qualities—ductility, malleability, reflection, and shine. Through the work of diverse and talented artists and designers, the show fosters new forms of dialogue and symbiosis, giving rise to unprecedented creative expressions. A contemplation on material and its energy, translated into a contemporary aesthetic code that embraces both art and design. Open edition.
