About the Item

French Art Deco buffet dating from the late 1920s to early 1930s. The cabinet is veneered in beautifully figured burl walnut and topped with a dramatic slab of Verde Antico marble. Deep green and black veining creates a striking contrast with the warm tone of the wood. The façade is defined by strong architectural lines. Fluted demi-lune mahogany columns frame open curved shelves on both sides. Cast brass drop handles and a reeded apron complete the composition. French Art Deco furniture celebrated luxurious materials and refined craftsmanship. Exotic veneers, natural stone and sculptural forms became defining elements of the period. This buffet captures that balance beautifully. Decorative, but never excessive. A versatile piece that works equally well as a sideboard, credenza or statement cabinet.
