About the Item

Biedermeier Mahogany Veneer Corner Cabinet, Circa 1870 This piece of furniture is made of softwood veneered with mahogany and dates from around 1870. It is designed for placement in a corner and features a single door with rounded corners, a crowning panel, two drawers, a plinth compartment, and an under-top section. The cabinet’s simple form is enlivened only by two pilasters flanking the door leaf, the concave-convex front of the upper drawer, and a curvilinear cut-out in part of the apron. After restoration, the cabinet was finished using the traditional technique with shellac polish.
