Louis-Philippe Chest of Drawers in Burl Walnut Mid-19th Century – Loire Valley, France Elegant French Louis-Philippe chest of drawers dating from the mid-19th century, crafted in sumptuous burl walnut with deep and spectacular grain patterns. This authentic piece opens with four drawers, including a remarkable concealed serpentine “secret” drawer discreetly integrated into the upper frieze — a refined feature characteristic of high-quality furniture from this period. The façade showcases exceptional burl walnut veneer work, enhanced by delicately rounded corners and the sober yet majestic silhouette typical of the Louis-Philippe style. The drawers are constructed with dovetail joinery and retain their finely chiseled brass escutcheons. A single key locks and unlocks all drawers. The chest stands on turned feet and is topped with a magnificent black Sainte-Anne marble slab enriched with naturally embedded prehistoric fossils, bringing remarkable mineral depth and elegance to the piece. Crafted in the Loire Valley, this commode comes from a château where it once furnished the master bedroom. Carefully passed down through generations, it has never undergone restoration — only a respectful cleaning preserving its original patina.
