About the Item

Swedish secrétaire made of pine and dated 1841. The piece appears with a rare, well-preserved original paint finish in a warm coral tone, richly complemented by fine polychrome decorations. Shaped, profiled top, adorned with hand-painted foliate motifs in subdued blue-grey tones, centered around the original date 1841. Upper section with a pair of paneled doors, decorated with classical vase and floral compositions, executed in a naive and charming style. Inside, shelves. Slant-front writing flap, behind which is a central niche as well as numerous small drawers and compartments, finished in a beautiful blue tone that creates a fine contrast to the warm exterior. Below the writing flap: one smaller and two larger drawers. Deep open 71 cm A beautiful and decorative secrétaire in very fine original condition – with a rare degree of preserved paint.
