About the Item

Dutch Mid-Century wall shelving system by Pilastro, Amsterdam, comprising two perforated off-white enameled metal risers with five assorted-color enameled metal shelves and a gray enameled metal cabinet. The cabinet features two sliding doors, one black and one white, each with a circular finger pull. Shelves span black, white, red, and blue enameled metal, supported by angled metal brackets slotted into the perforated risers. Pilastro was an Amsterdam-based manufacturer active during the 1950s and 1960s, known for modular metal storage systems that married industrial production methods with restrained, functional design. The company worked with notable Dutch designers including Coen de Vries, Friso Kramer, Dirk van Sliedregt, and Tjerk Reijenga. The slot-and-bracket system allowed users to reconfigure shelf placement, reflecting the period's interest in adaptable, democratic furniture. The unit shows age-appropriate wear consistent with use.
