About the Item

An exquisite American Empire Classical sideboard, crafted from flame mahogany around 1840, exemplifies the refined aesthetics of early 19th-century American furniture. This substantial piece features a striking flame mahogany veneer, renowned for its dramatic, swirling grain patterns, which adorn the entire façade. The design is characterized by its bold classical elements, including prominent fluted columns with carved capitals that transition into distinctive carved paw feet. The central section of the sideboard is equipped with three graduated drawers, each fitted with ornate bronze floral ring pulls, offering practical and accessible storage for linens or flatware. These drawers are flanked by two cabinet doors, providing additional concealed storage space ideal for larger serving pieces or dinnerware. A raised back panel backsplash having scrolled elements and smaller upright sections completes the elegant profile, adding to its architectural presence and serving as a display surface. The fine craftsmanship reflects the era's dedication to quality and sophisticated design, typical of American cabinetmakers during the Classical period. Measures - 58"H x 62.5"W x 24.25"D
