About the Item

A substantial oak sideboard in a distinctive Alpine / Brutalist style, likely dating from the mid to late 20th century. The piece is constructed in solid oak or oak veneer, with a thick, softly rounded top showing attractive grain and a warm, aged patina. The front is articulated with three deeply panelled doors, each decorated with a geometric grid of applied mouldings and fitted with original dark metal studs and hardware. The doors open to reveal generous internal storage, making the piece both highly practical and visually architectural. Original tasselled keys remain present, adding a subtle decorative detail. Raised on a sturdy plinth base, the sideboard has a strong, grounded presence typical of Alpine and Brutalist furniture of the period, while the careful detailing and proportion prevent it from feeling heavy.
