About the Item

A refined “Componível” sideboard by Jorge Zalszupin, produced by L’Atelier in Brazil around 1964. This model reflects Zalszupin’s ability to combine modular design with a strong architectural presence. The piece is executed in wood with beautifully figured veneer, showcasing a warm tone and elegant grain throughout. The composition features two drawer modules, each with three drawers, creating a balanced and highly functional layout. The clean lines of the cabinet are contrasted by the distinctive X-shaped metal legs, giving the sideboard a light, almost floating appearance. The design allows the piece to be placed freely in a room, with attention given to all sides. Subtle details such as the recessed handles and refined proportions underline the quality of craftsmanship associated with L’Atelier production. Jorge Zalszupin is regarded as one of the key figures of Brazilian modernism, known for merging European influences with a distinctly Brazilian sensibility through the use of fine materials and precise construction. A timeless and highly collectible piece of Brazilian modern design.
