Lacquered and gilded pure gold Faux marble top Dimensions: cm W 110 x D 45 x H 101 Barocchetto Italiano (DAL 1720 AL 1780) With the economic decline of the Italian aristocracy, the smaller proportions of Rococo furniture lent themselves to update the furnishings of the palace. Furniture was produced, mainly in the Veneto, with a typically Baroque formal layout, but with more minute proportions and more elegant decorative modules typical of Rococo furniture that did not contrast with the old Baroque scenographic furniture. This style, which spread throughout the peninsula, was called Italian Baroque. Venice, already renowned for its painted and lacquered furniture, was the center of the development of this style, where it lasted well beyond the mid-eighteenth century. In addition to the Veneto, furniture in this style was built by the Genoese cabinetmakers heirs of Anton Maria Maragliano (1664 - 1739) and in Piedmont, where the productions of Luigi Prinotto (1706 - 1790) and Pietro Piffetti...

Italian 19th Century Walnut Baroque Revival Round Center Table with Carved Base

Italian 19th Century Walnut Baroque Revival Round Center Table with Carved Base

Located in Atlanta, GA

This Italian Baroque revival table dates to the 19th century and is crafted in solid walnut, displaying the warm color, fine grain, and natural patina characteristic of the wood. The round top is constructed from wide walnut planks with a gentle edge, showing surface wear, small marks, and tonal variation consistent with age and use, all of which contribute to the table’s authenticity. The table stands on four sculptural, curved legs arranged in a cruciform layout, joined by a shaped cross stretcher centered with a turned walnut finial. This expressive base reflects Italian interpretations of Baroque-inspired forms that remained influential throughout the 19th century, combining visual movement with structural stability. The shaped feet give the table a grounded, architectural presence. Well proportioned for use as a center table, library table, or informal dining table, the round form allows for flexible placement while maintaining a strong sculptural identity. The contrast between the restrained top and the more dynamic base highlights the quality of the walnut and the craftsmanship of the structure. A solid and honest example of 19th-century Italian walnut furniture...
