Antique Solid Chestnut Spanish Coffee Table with Three Drawers and Dark Patina

This antique Spanish coffee table has a strong, sober, and beautifully timeworn appearance. The rectangular top is made of solid wood and has a warm dark brown to almost black patina. Long use has left old marks, subtle irregularities, small dents, and areas of wear in the surface, giving the table a highly authentic character. The dark finish is not flat or newly applied; in several places, warmer brown undertones come through, beautifully emphasizing the age and handmade quality of the piece. The table has an elongated, low form and stands on four simple straight legs. A molded edge runs around the tabletop, giving the piece a clear architectural structure despite its restrained design. The front contains two small drawers, each fitted with a simple metal knob. The drawer fronts are set within recessed molded frames, creating a quiet but refined decorative detail. The apron is broad and robust, very much in keeping with the Spanish furniture tradition, where functionality, solidity, and ornament are often held in careful balance. The underside clearly shows that this is an old piece with a traditional construction. Wear consistent with age and use. Many marks of use, well in line with the authentic and antique appearance. The table was gently cleaned and a new protective wax layer was applied. The table is solid, clean and without damage fot inmediate use.

Tables of this type were commonly used in offices and reception areas of plantations and trading houses, where durability and refined appearance were equally important. Measuring an impressive approximately 76" wide by 39" deep (193 x 100 cm), this substantial table makes a striking centerpiece in both traditional and contemporary interiors. The design is distinguished by its beautifully paneled top, framed with mitered corners that lend the piece a sophisticated architectural character. Its rich dark brown finish accentuates the expressive grain patterns of the solid teak, showcasing the natural movement, growth rings, and subtle variations that make teak such a highly prized wood species. The front is fitted with three generously sized drawers, each retaining its original metal ring pull. These drawers provide practical storage while contributing to the table's balanced and symmetrical design.
