About the Item

A Rare Italian, Mid-Century Modern, Square Form, Double Tiered and Cantilevered Coffee Table Attributed to Fontana Arte circa 1960. This elegant, visionary modernist table presents a diverse blend of materials in combination with a rare form and refined details. The top level is in thick Italian green tinted glass and the cantilevered lower level is a movable, sliding shelf allowing placement as desired. The shelf is composed of a solid brass frame and black enameled steel rods. Both levels provided interesting materials and offer refreshing transparency. The black enameled steel frame has beautiful brass detailing both on the feet and the caps will hold the glass in place. A small masterpiece of design and functionality becomes a pleasure for the eyes. Dimensions: H 14.5 x 26 x 26; Height of lower level shelf is 10.5”. An elegant and pure Modernist Statement, a rare French Mid-Century Modern double tier coffee table in black enameled steel and glass with brass details by Pierre Guariche, circa 1950-1960.
