About the Item

Coffee table in the Paolo Piva style, produced by Danish designer and manufacturer Niels Bendtsen. The white enameled metal frame features a low-profile square perimeter rail that cradles an inset glass top. Below, a structural network of diagonal chrome rod bracing forms repeating X-patterns across all four sides, connecting four cylindrical legs to a lower chrome rod tier. Disc-shaped feet anchor the base. The overall composition is geometric and architecturally resolved, with the contrast between the matte white enamel and polished chrome rods central to the design. Niels Bendtsen was a Danish designer active from the 1970s onward, producing furniture that engaged with postmodern and High-Tech aesthetics. This table reflects the broader European interest in exposed structural systems and industrial materials that characterized design output of the 1980s, drawing visual kinship with the structural vocabulary developed by Italian architects and designers of that period, including Paolo Piva. The table shows scratches and enamel loss consistent with age and use. The glass is intact.
