About the Item

A striking side table combining a thick round top in deep Verde Alpi marble with a hand-forged wrought iron base of vigorous scroll and volute work. The marble displays the variety's characteristic black to dark green ground with dynamic white veining — polished to a high sheen with excellent natural depth. The base, finished in matte black with an emerging verdigris patina, features four tapering legs united by paired scroll clusters at both the capital and foot, lending the piece a confident architectural presence at a compact and versatile scale. The scrollwork vocabulary and iron forging technique are consistent with French or Italian decorative metalwork production of the 1930s–1950s, reflecting the influence of Art Deco ironwork masters on workshop and atelier production of the period. A wood mounting plate secures the marble to the base, a period-sympathetic adaptation. Equally at home as a drinks table, bedside table, or accent piece in an interior ranging from maximalist European to Hollywood Regency to contemporary eclectic.
